Parisian life

Another week, another challenge. For Drunken Stampers this week the theme is Paris or Romance.
And here's what I came up with.

The best thing about this card, is how cheap it was to make. Most of the main components, like the background paper and the toppers have come from the free Create & Craft club gift of a Debbi Moore CD. I well quite chuffed that I had the matching colour of Cosmic Shimmer coloured Pearlescent PVA glue for the dots around the edge.
Why not hop along to Drunken Stampers to see what the rest of the team have created and have a go yourself.

Ingredients:
8x8 cream card base - Craft UK Ltd
Backing paper, toppers - Debbi Moore Shabby Chic Paris Bookazine CD
Spellbinders dies - All from Shapabilities Gold Elements One
Gold card - Create & Craft
Teal PVA Pearlescent glue - Cosmic Shimmer
Roses & Ribbon - from my crafty stash

Poorly day cards

Well that's typical, I have 3 days annual leave and I feel, well lets just say, unwell! There are better words to describe how I feel, but this a family friendly site after all!
On the positive side, being unwell has given me a good reason not to do housework and to craft instead. Me time!
Getting nicely on with the Christmas cards and did these three inspired by the Clarity workshop I went to.

OK so that's 3 down and a few more to go and still got to do my daughters with her for school, smaller but no less important. Wish me luck!!!!!!!

Cutesy Christmas

Challenge time again. This week for Challenges 4 Everybody we got use a Sherri Baldy image.
I chose this christmassy image to colour, 'tis the season' and all that! I felt the reindeer on this really encompassed the victoriana era and so decided to go down the pastel routes to colour, rather than traditional colours. It's turned out to be a great for any little girl.

I wanted to keep the background simple, so as not to detract from the main image. To still make it part of the card and not just plain, I embossed the background through my Grand Caliber, mounted this on the card base with 3D glue gel to give depth and added a seriously filigree Christmas tree. To give the tree a little more whoosh, it's sprayed with glitter and white pearls have been added to the tree prongs. I just added 4 gorgeous pastel pink flowers to pull it all together and finish it off. Hop over to Challenges 4 Everybody to take part.

Ingredients:
8x8 white card base - Papermania
Embossing folder - Embossalicious: Elegance
Dies - Spellbinders Shapabilities Holiday Tree
        - Spellbinders 5x7 Elegant Labels 4

Glitzy Christmas

Christmas is her and the cards are starting to get made by the bucket full.

Alternative Christmas card

So I have eventually done a christmas card, my first of the season. Might be leaving it a little late but hey ho, best get started!
I purchased the new Docrafts Creativity mag yesterday, as usual it came with a nice little freebie which included a 20's style stamp and a small pack of art deco foil papers. I haven't actually used any of the papers in this card, I've used the front cover sheet instead. Waste not want not as the saying goes.

I've used ribbon to cover the product wording across the centre of the card, a gorgeous black sparkler to cover the top left circle of wording, For the bottom left, I used a funky christmas boot stamp, heat embossed with silver embossing powder and colour filled with mica pigments using a water brush.
Slightly alternative christmas colours, but still looks pretty good.

Ingredients:
Backing paper - Docrafts Creativity magazine freebie cover
Ribon - my crafty stash
Black sparkler - Creative Expressions
Christmas boot stamp - Crafters Companion Inspiration magazine volume 1 freebie
Mica powders - Cosmic Shimmer: Pewter Grey, Golden Midnight, Khaki Green

Eternal memories

Creative time again, this week the theme for Drunken Stampers is METAL.
Gone a bit off the wall on this one. I haven't actually used metal on this card, I wanted to experiment with achieving a metal effect. Here's the result

The frame is a 'Gorjuss' stamp (Docrafts Gorjuss range), but i wanted a more aged effect that just stamping and heat embossing, so I liberally applied bronze gilding wax all over the top. I love the way the detail of the frame hasn't been lost, if anything I think it may have accentuated its features. I've used the same technique with the sentiment.
For the background, I had fun with microbeads. I laid strips of double sided tape on black card carefully, making sure no gaps were left between each strip. I then took of the protective layer on alternate strips and covered in gold micro beads, ensuring complete coverage on the tape. I then did the rest of the strips in black microbeads. The finish looks fab and gives a really tactile finish. Just to give a little extra va va voom, I've placed some pretty little paper flowers on a branch in the corner, just a little feature.

Why not have a look over at Drunken Stampers to see what the rest of the team have created.

Bugaboo Digi Stamps

Well hello there, fancy meeting you here again!
OK so this week for Challenges 4 Everybody we had the full range of Bugaboo digi stamps to choose from. I chose a silhouette image because I wanted to play with the brayer and try some of the new techniques I learnt at the Clarity workshop.

A lot of the Bugaboo stamps are contemporary in appearance, which doesn't necessarily fit with my usual style, but are a beautiful range of silhouette images, including snow globes which are all the rage at the moment. Take a look and see what they've got that you might like.

 Bugaboo Digi Stamps

And here's the card I came up with, have to admit it needed to be a quick one this week due to work commitments, but I don't think it's too bad.

The rest of the design team have come up with some gorgeous designs, take a look and leave them a little comment.

Thought I'd share some of the work I did there. Quite please with them, even if I do say so myself!

Keep practising and them hopefully more to come.

Beautiful Imagination

Had a great week this week, been to the NEC and spent rather too much money. But on the upside, I was customer #4 at the Crafters Companion stand and received £50 goody bag for free, found a few new crafty things to try, including MosaiCraft, bit like cross stitch but with tiny pegs clipped on to a board. The best thing though and admit to getting a little starstruck, was Barbara Gray demo. I asked about brayering and she did a demo to show me exactly how it was done and I got to keep the work she did. (will be framing and putting it on the wall in my craft area for inspiration!)

Right back to what we're here for, Challenges 4 Everybody.
Got a fabulous designer to work with this week;

 Sassy Studios

and here's what I came up with.............

I just totally loved this image, very vampish, very cool and I felt purple was the perfect colour to compliment her obviously fierce attitude. I've used Promarkers to colour this one in.
For your chance to win this weeks prize, come along to the blog and take inspiration for my team mates fab designs.

Little acorn with Lacy Sunshine Stamps

Blog time again, this week for Challenges 4 Everybody, we have been given stamps by Sunshine Lacy top play with. I totally love the design of  the stamps, on the website there's a really good mix of cutesy characters, ones with attitude and I, to the detriment of my bank account, just had to invest also in one of the Curiosity characters. As they would say on Towie, totes amaze!!!!
I absolutely loved colouring the image in and am quite pleased with the progress I am making in using Spectrum Noirs. Make your own judgement.

The rest of the DT have made some amazing creations, take a look and while your there, why not take part, you could win some of Lacy Sunshines amazing digi's.

Victorian Lady Notebook

This week is Drunken Stampers turn for the challenge. Good broad subject this week

http://drunkenstampers.wordpress.com/

Decided to try something different this week and have a change from doing cards. I have instead done a notebook.

I've never had much success with gilding flakes, but after watching Indigoblu on C&C I thought I'd try again and was quite pleased with how it worked out. As should be the way with crafting, I did get quite messy, but what 's glue for if not to get messy!

Why not take a look and see what the rest of the DT have done and while your there, have a bash at becoming this weeks Life of the Party.

Little Ladybugs

As one challenge ends, another one begins. This fortnight on Challenges 4 Everybody we've had the privilege of having some Oak Pond Creations digistamps to play with. They have some fantastic images, and what the rest of the DT have done with them is fab. I chose an absolutely gorgeous image of some little ladybirds hiding behind a flower.
This week I went a little bit mad and spoilt myself with a new set of pens. I've been wanting to try Spectrum Noirs for some time and there was a fab offer on in the local garden centre which was just too good to miss. This is the first time I've used them and I'm quite happy with how it turned out. They are very different to use to Promarkers and I've found the colours to be much richer.

Drunken Stampers Space challenge

Morning all, little bit of confession to make, I'm a bit late on publishing this blog post for Drunken Stampers, to be honest no excuses I just purely forgot to write it!
Anyway this week the challenge is centred round Neil Armstrong or anything to do with an astronaut or space.

http://drunkenstampers.wordpress.com/

I actually found this quite difficult and really did have a few problems coming up with something, but here's what I ended with.

I ended up using some toppers from hunkydory, together with some of their card and arranged on a shaped card.
I wanted to try to do a shaped card, as I tend to get stuck in the rut of doing square all the time. Quite happy with how it cam out in the end.
The rest of the DT at Drunken Stampers have done some amazing creations, pop over and have a peek and while you're there why not have a try at the challenge, you never know you might the next 'Life of the Party'

Challenges 4 Everybody - Sherri Baldy

For this weeks challenge card, I've had the privilege of being able to use a beautiful digistamp from Sherri Baldy. All her images are gorgeous, with big bold eyes and plenty of space with the image for colouring.

With the long wavy hair on this image, I wanted to keep the feel of fairy tale and keep the colouring in pastel shade and just really cutesy. Finishing the card off with a complimenting backing paper, a die cut silver swirl and some flowers to give dimension. I'm not overly confident with my standard of colouring with Promarkers, so hopefully I won't let the rest of the DT at C4E down. See what everyone has done and join in the fun at http://challenges4everybody.blogspot.co.uk/

Challenges 4 Everybody DT post

Whoop Whoop, go me........! Been offered a position on a fab challenge blog, you may well of heard of them!

Watch out for my first contribution to the challenge blog in a weeks time. Best thing about it, get to work with some fab designers and some fantastic digistamps.

Watch this space...........

Chocolate & Britain

Challenge week comes round so quickly, this week with Drunken Stampers it London or Red, White & Blue.

Yet again I have chosen to stay with my most favoured style and gone down the vintage route. A while back I bought some new stamps from Indigo Blu, which included this 'Chocolate is not just for Breakfast' stamp. Something about it reminded me of the post war era, so that's what I focused on. I used paper printed from a free Daisytrail Digikit, a couple of Spellbinders die's and 3d flowers made using a Tonic Petal Pairs punch.

I'm particularly happy with the swirls, they are from the Spellbinders Shapeabilities Gold Elements One Corner die, which I've trimmed down to the size and shape to suit the card. I'm also really pleased with the flowers, the first time I tried to make them, they just didn't work and just looked awful, determined to make them work this time, I studied a couple of videos on You Tube and hey presto, it worked!

Pop over to Drunken Stampers to see what fantastic creations the rest of the DT have made, Though my only question is, why does everybody give the impression that Britain is a rainy country!!!????

Ingredients:
A5 card base
Matting and layering - Airforce Blue & Burgundy Papermania Textured Capsule Colossal Colours
Spotty backing paper (including flower paper) & Union Flag - DaisyTrail Free, British Street Party
Spellbinders - Gold Elements One & 5x7 Elegant Labels 4

Website launch

My apologises for not adding any new posts for a while. Been not only ridiculously busy at work (45 hrs In one week) and dealing with the house and kids, but also have been working stupidly to get the website up and running. I've done it though, got nappy cakes on and body suits on. More to go  on but not bad for a weeks work! Ode to the day I'm my own boss! Take a look, unfortunately at this stage I'm only able to deliver to UK, but who knows where the future will take me.

Button Heart card

Theme this week on Drunken Stampers is Buttons.

I've gone for a vintage feel on this one; one of my favourite styles and using lots of pink(ish) buttons, it seemed to lend itself nicely to a romantic card. I've kept it quite simple, as so many buttons have been used, too much would make the whole thing too busy.

By arranging the buttons tightly, the heart image is clear but still have a feel of complexity. Mounted on similar coloured background paper, the heart seems to pop and mounted this on black really seems to harmonise the whole creation.

I've used some vintage style grosgrain ribbon to finish the card off and a cute little sentiment.

Why not pop over to http://drunkenstampers.wordpress.com/ to join the fun.

Swirly silhouette tree

What a busy bank holiday! Get three days off work and only manage to do one card. On the up side though, I have blitzed my craft area and it looks pretty good, however, not sure how long it is going to last but my intentions are good!

Any hows, on with the card........

This is what I've come up with tonight, been quite fun to do as I've managed to combine (play) with a few of my favourite techniques.

I've used the masking  technique to create the cloud and hills. The masks I've used are just ones I've cut from plain copier paper and I've applied ink using my Ink Dusters.I've stamped the tree in black, as it's such an in intricate design, it would be crazy to see if I over complicated it.

The 'Happy Birthday' and the birds on the wire sections of the card, are made using embossing folders on Core'dinations card and sanded back to expose the green core, as is the dotty background card.

Just to make it a little bit different, the ribbon strip at the side, has been mounted onthe inside of the card on the insert, rather than on the front.

Recipe:
8x8 white card base - Papermania
Black matting card - Core'dinations Black Magic
Embossing folders - Birds on a Wire - Darice

'Gorjuss' Celebration card

Well 2 weeks have past and I survived my first challenge week with drunken stampers, hopefully I even managed to give you a few ideas. Time now for Team Tropical Hooters new challenge and the theme this week is.........

DS138 Challenge Graphic

Turns out, I've just taken delivery of an amazing set of bunting stamps and dies from Sizzix, just perfect for this theme. For the background matting and layering I've used 3 different contrasting papers and overlapped them. Instead of mounting theme I've edged each sheet with a couple of squiggly lines, it just gives it a little bit more 'je ne sais quoi'!

I totally love the bunting stamps and by putting them on a bit of twine and using 3D glue gel, really gives the card dimension.

The stamped image of the girl is from the Gorjuss range by Docrafts. Still going through my monochrome phase, so used grey Promarkers to colour, but I do think it really does work on this card as it brings out the colour of the balloon brads and the colour in the bunting.

Hope it gives you a few ideas for your card for the challenge.

Recipe:
8x8 cream card base - Papermania
Gorjuss range 12x12 papers - Docrafts
Bunting stamps & dies - Sizzix
Bunting inks - Adirondacks: Bottle, Caramel & Bottle
Gorjuss girl image - Docrafts
Pink twine - Papermania
Balloon brads - Dovecrafts
Promarkers - Cool grey 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5
