Swirly silhouette tree

What a busy bank holiday! Get three days off work and only manage to do one card. On the up side though, I have blitzed my craft area and it looks pretty good, however, not sure how long it is going to last but my intentions are good!

Any hows, on with the card........

This is what I've come up with tonight, been quite fun to do as I've managed to combine (play) with a few of my favourite techniques.

I've used the masking  technique to create the cloud and hills. The masks I've used are just ones I've cut from plain copier paper and I've applied ink using my Ink Dusters.I've stamped the tree in black, as it's such an in intricate design, it would be crazy to see if I over complicated it.

The 'Happy Birthday' and the birds on the wire sections of the card, are made using embossing folders on Core'dinations card and sanded back to expose the green core, as is the dotty background card.

Just to make it a little bit different, the ribbon strip at the side, has been mounted onthe inside of the card on the insert, rather than on the front.

Recipe:
8x8 white card base - Papermania
Black matting card - Core'dinations Black Magic
Embossing folders - Birds on a Wire - Darice

                              - Dotty background - Darice

'Gorjuss' Celebration card

Well 2 weeks have past and I survived my first challenge week with drunken stampers, hopefully I even managed to give you a few ideas. Time now for Team Tropical Hooters new challenge and the theme this week is.........

DS138 Challenge Graphic

Turns out, I've just taken delivery of an amazing set of bunting stamps and dies from Sizzix, just perfect for this theme. For the background matting and layering I've used 3 different contrasting papers and overlapped them. Instead of mounting theme I've edged each sheet with a couple of squiggly lines, it just gives it a little bit more 'je ne sais quoi'!

I totally love the bunting stamps and by putting them on a bit of twine and using 3D glue gel, really gives the card dimension.

The stamped image of the girl is from the Gorjuss range by Docrafts. Still going through my monochrome phase, so used grey Promarkers to colour, but I do think it really does work on this card as it brings out the colour of the balloon brads and the colour in the bunting.

Hope it gives you a few ideas for your card for the challenge.

Recipe:
8x8 cream card base - Papermania
Gorjuss range 12x12 papers - Docrafts
Bunting stamps & dies - Sizzix
Bunting inks - Adirondacks: Bottle, Caramel & Bottle
Gorjuss girl image - Docrafts
Pink twine - Papermania
Balloon brads - Dovecrafts
Promarkers - Cool grey 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5

Vintage Birthday

OK so I bought another Serif Digikit this week, haven't quite told the other half yet but hey, I NEEDED it! Hearts Designs, amazing vintage designs and to be fair I have wanted it since I saw it (and missed it) on Create and Craft. It's so in keeping with my style and here's the first card I came up with.

By doing an easel card for a change, I've been able to use the beautiful floral spray to hold the card upright instead of the usual strips.
All in all I'm pretty pleased with how it's turned out.

8x8 white card base - Papermania

Morehead quick card

Time for a very quick cute little card.
One thing I love about the Crafters Companion CDs is the card companions sections. It's basically everything you need for a card on 1 A4 sheet, with all the matting and layering done for you.

I totally love the Morehead range, such cute little characters and perfect for little girls and big girls alike!
On this card I've taken the topper, glued it at a jaunty angle and just finished off with a personalised removable tag to give dimension.

As I say quick and easy, but very effective.

Crafters Companion do a huge range of CDs and are one of my favourite craft suppliers, hop over to their site to see their full range.

Drunken Stampers Challenge #136: Beach or anything that's water themed

Whoop Whoop, my first card done specifically as part of the Drunken Stampers design team. Theme this week is Beach or anything that's water themed.

DS136 Challenge Graphic

I've chosen to combine the two and have both beach and water featured on the card.

I've used a harbour image, with just a sliver of a beach. However to draw the eye to the beach, rather the the buildings, I've only used coloured inks on the beach, water and sky using ink dusters for texture and coloured the buildings in monochrome grey with alcohol pens. This has then been matted and layered on yellow and blue card to accentuate the beach even further.

The sentiment of 'Summer Days' really suits the image well and I've heat embossed this stamp and the frame stamp with embossing powder and again used my Ink Dusters to tone in the background. It has then been shaped and and placed on the card using 3D glue to give the card depth.

To finish the card off, I've stamped and heat embossed around the edge of the base card with a cute swirl pattern and placed a simple embellishment of a boat to tie it all together.

Drop by the the Drunken Stampers challenge site to join in and see what the rest of the design team have come up with.
