Happy Birthday brother

Yay, off work for a week so hopefully get to do a fair bit of crafting and playing with my crafty stash. Started off fairly well, though with a bit of a difficult card to do. Men, as we know, are notoriously hard to make cards for. Well hey guess what, needed to do a card for my brother-in-law which is hard enough, but he's mid 20's! Not the easiest age range, wouldn't appreciate cutesy, not into fishing, gardening and those sort of past times. Ok so that leaves me with football, what else!
Here's what I came up with;

Totally into the tonal feel at the moment and not bucked the trend with this one either. Gone with masculine browns and creams and matted and layered lots of different elements. Each layer has been edged with Chestnut coloured Promarker. I particularly like the mat with the grid stamp that I've put the Wellington Bear picture on.

Elegant baby girl card

Ok, so I could use the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge having a little boy as a good excuse to do another card, however as it happens, I need to do a card for a friend who's had a baby girl. So baby card it is, not for a royal prince but a little princess.

Using a sweet sentiment and the little ones name strategically printed in pearlescent card, layered and pink card and added just three small embellishments to finish the look. Result: A very simple, but elegant personalised card.

Pearlescent white card - Create & Craft
Pink matt - Hunkydory

Grasses on green & purple

Time for another card, just done a quick little one this time. It's so warm at the moment, I've been outside with my girls.
On this one I've used a silhouette grass stamp on a background created from using Ink Dusters, mounted on a filigree heart die cut, over lilac raffia.

I finished of the look with three colour co-ordinating hat pins and mounted it onto 5x5 Kraft card.

Recipe:
Green Lettuce & Purple Twilight inks - Adirondak
Windswept stamp - Inkylicious
Filigree heart die by Xcut
Lilac Raffia - Kanban
Green backing card - my crafty stash
5x5 Kraft card base - Papermania
Hat pins - my crafty stash

Spellbinders Wedding Card

Well, been really inspired to do a bit of crafting tonight. Had some fantastic news today and getting ready for some good times ahead. Thought this would be a great time to do the wedding card I need. Hands up those who tend to leave the cards they need till last minute?! Pleased to say I've done this one with two weeks to spare.
I absolutely love white on white and this has been this inspiration for this card. It's basically made up of various Spellbinders dies layered up, using Centura Pearl for a luxorious look, with a some floral patterned paper as a backdrop.

For the main sentiment on the card, I've just used a simple one word pink embellishment, which together with the dove, stand out perfectly on the white background. This has then been finished off with a few paper and silk flowers.

Using lots of layers has given the card real dimension and helps it to really stand out.

Recipe
Centura Pearl Cardstock - Crafter Companion
Floral backing paper - Kanban crafts (in the Garden)
Circle die cut - Spellbinders Statley Circles
Border die cut - Spellbinders A2 Bracket Borders One
Flowers and other embelishments from my crafty stash

Baby boy nappy cake

This is another of my new creations.
Going away from the cards for once, I was quite pleased with how this turned out and the recipients were very happy with too.

Now though, seeing as the weather is so lovely, I'm going to attempt a bit of crafting in the garden under the gazebo. Lets hope the dog doesn't run off with anything!

Inkylicious Ink Dusters...first attempts.

Well a little excited would be an under statement. Received my new crafty toys from http://www.inkylicious.co.uk/index.php yesterday and tonight has been my first opportunity to have a real play. Spoilt myself a bit though, not only did I get the Ink Dusters and the storage stand, I also treated myself to the full set of Adirondack inks. Yes that's right, all 48!
Well this is what I came up with for my first attempts.

In the grass scape card, I used Lettuce and Clover Adirondacks for the grassed area and for the sky, sunset Orange and a little Sunset Yellow. The main stamped image was from Inkylicious to (another little treat!) was Windswept, a clear polymer stamp.

On my second play, I've tried to combine more colours from opposite ends of the spectrum. The background was made up by using Sail Boat Blue, Sunshine Yellow, Clover and Purple Twilight. I have then overlayed this with an image of a girl from Kanbans Urban Bells - Birthday set.

All in all, quite pleased with my first attempts, many more to come I hope. I really starting to warm to stamping and inking techniques. Never know, I could be the next Barbara Gray, brayers at the ready...here's hoping!
